Same man robs two gas stations in Anderson Township
ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Angenette Levy) -- Sheriff's deputies believe the same man robbed two gas stations Saturday that are less than 2 miles apart.
A man wearing black athletic shorts and carrying a gun walked into the BP station at Beechmont Ave. and Five Mile Rd. just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday. He approached the clerk behind the counter with his face covered. Clerk Michele Wehby said she spoke to her co-worker who was working at the time of the robbery and he was shaken up.
"He said a guy came over with a mask and demanded money and cigarettes. He came behind the counter. He came behind the counter and grabbed what he wanted out of the cigarettes," Wehby said.
The clerk was not hurt. Less than nine hours later, the same man robbed the Clark station on Salem Road less than 2 miles away.
"He said give me money, give me money. And he take the money and I go outside fast and I talked with somebody, help me, help me," clerk Ramila Patel said.
Patel said this is the first time in the eight years that her family has owned the gas station that it has been robbed.
Detectives are looking at whether the two robberies in Anderson Twp. are connected to the robbery of the Shell gas station on Kellogg Ave. in the East End.
Meanwhile, Michele Wehby said she hasn't heard about a lot of robberies in Anderson Twp. She believes the robber will be caught since so many surveillance cameras caught him in the act.
"It's a little scary especially in this neighborhood. It's kind of hard to trust any area but especially being right here I feel pretty safe but at the same time it's still scary. Anything can happen anywhere," Wehby said.
A sheriff's deputy told Local 12 News that detectives had some good leads in the robberies. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 352-3040.
