Firefighter injured in West Chester house fire out of hospital

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (Perry Schaible) -- A firefighter was seriously injured fighting a house fire in West Chester.

Flames broke out in the garage of on a home on Apache Way at about 4:00 Monday morning. The fire went undetected and then spread to the first and second floors of the house.

A West Chester information officer said a woman living inside the home made it out okay, however three firefighters were injured. Two were treated at the scene for heat exhaustion, the other was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries he suffered while pulling a hose outside the house. That firefighter has been released from the hospital.

The woman's teenage daughter also lives at the home but had spent the night with a friend. One dog did die in the fire, a second got out.

Firefighters are still investigating how that fire started. It did $100,000 in damage to the home.
