Fatal ODNR chase started with suspected drunk driving
WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources say a pursuit that turned fatal in Clermont County was started by a suspected drunk driver.
While working at Stonelick State Park on Sunday, a wildlife officer says he saw a group of people acting disorderly and drinking what he believed to be alcohol. He then saw them get into a car with what he thought were opens cans of alcohol.
As the officer tried to stop the car, he says the driver took off. The officer followed. After he crested a hill on State Route 727, near Shiloh Road, he saw the car had crashed. Investigators believe the driver, 36-year-old Paul Chisenhall, lost control as he crested the hill.
The car hit an embankment and some trees. 31-year-old Jason Wright and 34-year-old Charles McMullen died in the crash. Emergency crews took Chisenhall and Christina Singleton t the hospital with serious injuries.
Chisenhall now faces two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide.
