Emails show ex-IRS official Lerner called GOP names

WASHINGTON (WKRC) -- Congressional Republicans who have argued that former IRS official Lois Lerner was hostile to conservatives may have their smoking gun.

Newly released emails show that Lerner had some choice words for conservatives.

While talking to a friend in 2012, Lerner called GOP members "crazies" and other disparaging words.

Republicans say it's more proof her division in Cincinnati improperly singled out Tea Party applications for tax-exempt status.

Republican Dave Camp said, "I think these emails show clearly a political bias. A political bias against conservatives and conservative organizations that resulted in the violation of their constitutional rights to due process and equal protection."

Lerner has invoked her 5th amendment rights when she has been called to testify on Capitol Hill.
