EPA wants automakers to prove gas mileage claims
UNDATED (CNN) -- The federal government may start making car companies prove their gas mileage claims with road tests.
CNN reports that the EPA only tests ten to fifteen percent of new vehicles every year. The rest are tested by the car companies, with a combination of computer models, wind tunnels and treadmill-like tests.
The push for more testing is because of discrepancies found in fuel estimates for some 2012 and 2013 Hyundais and Kias.
