Driver dies after semi crashes and burns

BLUE ASH, Ohio (WKRC) -- The driver of the dump truck that was on fire on westbound I-275 Tuesday afternoon died.

A 2007 Sterling Dump truck, fully loaded with gravel, struck the median wall, caught fire and overturned.  The incident happened around 3p.m. and slowed traffic to a complete stop.  It shut down 275 in both directions at the Reed Hartman Highway for hours.

The driver of the truck died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.  Sharonville Police have not yet released the driver's name.

Drivers in the area were asked to avoid the area while crews work to clean it up and clear the scene.  The truck's load of gravel spilled onto the roadway.  An overhead, sign, support post was also struck and damaged.

Investigators are working to determine what caused the driver to hit the median.  No one else was hurt in the accident.
