Scholarship in honor of drowning victims will teach others to swim

PLEASANT RIDGE, Ohio (WKRC) -- We're well into summer, but it's never too late to learn to swim. A special scholarship will help ensure local kids get the chance to learn safety in the water.

The Jeff family lost two boys in June 2011. 10-year old Cameron and 8-year old Bryce drowned in a pool in Bond Hill.

Money raised in their honor helps fund a Cincinnati Recreation Commission scholarship for children who cannot afford swimming lessons. The CRC says people of all ages could benefit from lessons on the basics of staying safe in the water.

Cincinnati city council member Yvette Simpson announce today she plans to begin swim lessons and encourages others to join her.
