No fourth trial for man convicted of killing wife

WARREN COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) -- Ohio's Attorney General asked a federal judge to deny convicted killer Ryan Widmer's pleas for freedom.
Widmer's attorney appealed in February, citing errors in the case; most of which involve former lead detective Jeff Braley.  The state Attorney General filed a new reply that said he should not get a fourth trial.
A jury in 2011 convicted Widmer of drowning his newlywed wife, Sarah, in the bathtub of their Warren County home in 2008.  The defense will have an opportunity to respond to the new brief and then a magistrate will make a ruling.
The decision ultimately lies with district court Judge Timothy Black in Cincinnati.
