Community unites to fight heroin problem

NEW RICHMOND, Ohio (WKRC) -- New information has become available on a story first seen on Local 12 News.
Local 12's recent stories on the heroin problem in New Richmond have motivated a lot of people in that community to get involved.  New Richmond police Chief Randy Harvey explained his department was overwhelmed with small time heroin users and dealers.
Harvey called in the Attorney General's office for help and, last week, held a town meeting on the issue.  A grass roots Facebook group called "River Rats on Attack" organized and, with more than 125 members, set up its first public meeting.

The meeting will be held Wednesday, July 30, at 6p.m. at the bandstand on Front Street in New Richmond.  Business owners and concerned citizens are encouraged to attend but are asked to leave children at home due to the subject matter.
