Suspect now charged with murder of local businessman

CINCINNATI (Angenette Levy) -- Police have charged a suspect in the murder of a local businessman.

Christopher McFerron was charged with aggravated murder in the death of James Rolman.  Monday morning, McFerron appeared in court on charges of failure to comply with an officer, inducing panic and using weapons while intoxicated for that chase.  A judge ordered him locked up on $100,000 bond Monday.

When officers from several departments tried to stop McFerron and his wife on I-74, they said he told his wife to get out of the car and then held a gun to his own head.  He drove towards I-275 at speeds between two and 30 miles per hour.  He then crashed and ran off; police closed I-275 in both directions for nearly an hour until they were able to take McFerron into custody.  They learned he took heroin during that chase.

Rolman was a co-owner of the David Hirschberg Steel Company in Lockland. He was last seen Friday morning at the U.S. Bank in Lockland, where he withdrew a large amount of money.

Security video showed a man getting into Rolman's car. Rolman was found dead inside his car at an abandoned industrial area on Smalley Road in Lockland. He'd been shot in the head.
