Chipotle robbery suspect arrested after chase that injured two

FLORENCE, Ky. (WKRC) -- Florence Police arrest a robbery suspect following a chance in which two innocent people were hurt.

Police say a thief robbed the Chipotle on Dream Street Wednesday. They say he used a knife to demand cash from the employees. He was dressed in a black sweatshirt with his face covered by a towel. Witnesses said the thief took off in a white or tan car.

Officers saw a car matching that description turning from Dream Street onto Ewing Boulevard. When they tried to pull over the car, they say the driver kept going. The car then hit another vehicle on Ewing, causing that vehicle to jump the curb and hit a tree. The driver and a child in that vehicle were taken to the hospital but are expected to recover.

The chase continued on Burlington Pike and then I-75. At some point, damage from the accident forced the car to pull over. Police then arrested the driver, Nicholas Sanders. He's charged with robbery, fleeing and evading, assault, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an accident.
