Bone marrow donor drive held for infant

MILFORD, Ohio (WKRC) -- A family is asking the community for help for their infant son.

A bone marrow donor registry drive was held for Ryan Dennis Sunday afternoon in the St. Andrew Parish basement in Milford.

Ryan was born in June. He began his life with no T-cells to fight off infections and was diagnosed with an immune deficiency. He and his parents are living in isolation at the Ronald McDonald House until he is at least four months old. That is when he can receive chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.

He does not have a match in his family or among more than 11 million potential donors in the Be the Match Registry.

Dozens of people showed up Sunday to have their cheek swabbed and be entered into the registry.
