Hispanics targeted in teen armed robberies

PRICE HILL, Ohio (Deb Dixon) -- Imagine coming home from a long day at work and being afraid a gunman might be waiting for you.
That was how some residents of one apartment complex lived.  Groups of teens waited in the shadows to rob and sometimes shoot the largely Hispanic community.

The manager of Autumn Woods Apartments went from door to door with police and told residents about yet another robbery.  The building is part of a 20 building complex near Westmont Drive in Price Hill.

Tuesday night, a resident reported the ninth robbery in five weeks.  Two of the victims were shot. All were Hispanic.

ll said the robbers were young black teens who move in, usually with a gun, as they come home from work.  The robberies seemed sort of a summer job for the teens who hung out on the shadows waiting for a victim.  Most of the victims don't speak English but they do have money because they have jobs.

Special police patrols have been assigned during the hours the robberies usually happened.  Most of them occurred late at night when the residents came home from work.  For now the residents just hope they can get inside their apartments without getting shot or robbed of what they worked hard to have.
The Wheel of Justice is offering a $1,000 reward for information that can help police stop the violent robberies.

Call Crime Stoppers with the information at 352-3040.
