Madeira man in court for shot that injured wife

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A judge orders a Madeira business owner, accused of  held on $500,000 bond for firing a shot that injured his wife.

Police say Blake Seylhouwer fired a shot from a rifle in the couple's driveway, during an argument. Bullet fragments hit her in the chest, leg, head and neck. She's expected to recover.

Seylhouwer claims the shooting was an accident. His attorney echoed that claim during Seylhouwer's arraignment Wednesday August 13th, 2014, when he asked for a low bond. He said Seylhouwer is an upstanding citizen and a small business owner.

The prosecutor's office asked for a high bond, claiming this was a domestic violence related argument. Seylhouwer is charged with domestic violence and felonious assault.

In addition to the bond, the judge called for Hamilton County Department of Job and Family Services look into the home situation, to see if Seylhouwer can have contact with the couple's children, who are four and 13 months. Seylhouwer can't have any firearms in the home and can't drink alcohol. Seylhouwer also signed a motion for protection order, keeping him from his wife.
