Illuminated concert dazzles in Washington park

CINCINNATI (Angenette Levy) -- People in the crowd leaving LumenoCity Friday night described the laser light show set to the music of the CSO as "awesome" and gave it a thumbs-up.

The audience gave the show a standing ovation.  Kathy Wilson of Loveland attended LumenoCity last year and came back for this year's show.

"It's really exciting. Last year was such a big surprise. We didn't know what was going to happen. And we've been looking forward to this," Wilson said.

She and her husband brought friends who hadn't been to the show.

"I love the symphony, I love the Music Hall. It's a beautiful building so I'm really looking forward to the light show and the symphony," Ann Coyne said.

LumenoCity is so hot that the tickets for the three performances sold out in minutes.

That didn't stop Josh Streicher and Chris Strohofer from going to the show.

"I didn't know the tickets were sold out already so we decided to come down here and sit on the lawn and try to get a glimpse of it from outside the fence," Streicher said. Strohofer added, "I thought there might be enough sitting area that we'd just be able to hear and see a few things."

The pair staked out a spot in LumenoCity Village - an area on the south end of the park that included live music and food and drink vendors. People without tickets are encouraged to visit the village to be a part of the festivities.

LumenoCity Village will open at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. It will close at midnight Saturday and 11 p.m. Sunday.
