Metro bus driver honored for heroics

EAST PRICE HILL, Ohio (WKRC) -- A Metro bus driver was honored Tuesday, August 19th, 2014, for helping to save people from a burning apartment building.

Clay Chinn was driving on West 8th Street on July 31, when he saw smoke coming from the building. City officials say Chinn and another good samaritan went into the building to alert people to the fire. He helped a woman on the second floor escape. Then he went back in to try to make sure everyone was safe. He was treated for smoke inhalation.

Chinn calls his actions automatic. "I hope that everyone, if an opportunity comes to you, you step up and help someone, even if it's something simple like help someone cross the street or pick up a piece of paper. We gotta have pride in who we are."

Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley presented Chinn with a letter of appreciation. Metro also awarded him its STAR Award.
