Ice Bucket Challenge at local Catholic high school

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Two local Catholic school leaders took the Ice Bucket Challenge a day after the Archdiocese warned schools not to donate to the ALS Association benefiting from the challenge.

Elder principal Tom Otten and Archdiocese school superintendent, Jim Rigg, both took the challenge Wednesday, August 20th, 2014, in 'the pit' at Elder.  Both planned to donate to the John Paul II Medical Research Institute in Iowa as the Archdiocese suggested.

The archdiocese made the decision because the ALS associations support labs that use embryonic stem cells in some of their research.  The Catholic Church is against embryonic stem cell research.
