Judge finds man not guilty of college student's murder

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- A local man is found not guilty today in the shooting death of a scholarship athlete from Mt Healthy.

A judge found Damon Kirkendall not guilty on charges of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and kidnapping.

19-year old Vince Turnage was shot during a home invasion at his mother's house in Springfield Township last November. Turnage was home from the University of Akron where he was on a track scholarship.

He was trying to help his girlfriend get out of the house when he was shot in the head. Police say the robbery was drug related but Turnage was not the target.
