Cincinnati part of campaign targeting Canadian travelers
CINCINNATI (Brad Underwood) -- Cincinnati will soon be featured on Canadian television in hopes of increasing foreign tourism to the United States. Partnering with the Hilton Cincinnati Netherlands Plaza, Brand USA is putting together a ten minute promotional video about the queen city.
Some of the highlights: The Banks, Fountain Square and Over-The-Rhine.
Claire Duncan, a native of Canada who now lives in New York, is the host for the video on Cincinnati.
"It's been really exciting to work with Brand USA and to help promote really cool cities in the states that might not have had a chance to sell themselves internationally," said Duncan.
The campaign uses hosts and writers from specific countries to sell American cities to travelers. Brand USA says over the past decade there's been a major decline in visitors from outside the United States. The 2014 Brand USA campaign will highlight 430 travel destinations.
"It was something that we really lacked and so now we are really promoting it to own home countries. It's genius because there are so many beautiful places to come check out," said Duncan.
One of Duncan's favorite stops in Cincinnati is Over-The-Rhine.
"There's a lot of beautiful architecture, hip restaurants and bars," Duncan said. "I think we might go back there tonight, it looked really fun."
After filming in Cincinnati is complete, the video will be put together in New York. Duncan says she'll also be writing a personal blog about her time in Cincinnati.
