Howard Ain, Troubleshooter: Fake ticket scam for sold-out concert

CINCINNATI (Howard Ain) -- A warning about phony tickets to Riverbend concerts sold over the Internet.

The latest fraudulent ticket scam showed up Saturday night, August 23rd, 2014, for the sold-out show with country artist Luke Bryan.  Two of those who arrived with fake tickets for the show said they bought them from a man who advertised them on Craigslist.  They said there were at least 25 other people at the will call office who also had bad tickets to the concert.

The tickets they bought were from Craigslist and other websites.  A spokesperson for Riverbend told Local 12 there were more fraudulent tickets than normal Saturday night because it was a sold-out show.  She said this was an increasing problem and warns everyone not to buy from any website other than Tickemaster.

In addition, she said, people can buy tickets at the Riverbend Music Center itself or at the Taft Theater Box Office and avoid paying any service fees.  But the big thing she said was not to buy tickets from anyone selling tickets over the Internet.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Department is investigating the case.

At least five different people filed complaints.
