Former Scarlet Oaks teacher accused of sex with 3 students
SHARONVILLE, Ohio (Larry Davis) -- A former culinary teacher at Scarlet Oaks was accused of having sex with three students.
43-year-old Dan Knecht was charged with six counts of sexual battery. The investigation began in January when a student told school authorities that another student was having a sexual relationship with Knecht. That led to the discovery of all three alleged sexual relationships. The prosecutor's office said the incidents took place at the school and at private homes.
Joh Weidlich, from Great Oaks Vocational School, said, "Now we let the justice system work and see where that goes. We work hard here to create a welcoming and safe environment for kids, so it's really frustrating when somebody would damage that reputation."
Scarlett Oaks did not renew Knecht's contract after the end of the school year.
20-year-old Carly Skwir was charged with obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence. The prosecutor's office said she was a former student of Knecht's.
If convicted of all charges, Knecht faces up to 30 years in prison. Skwir could face up to eight years in prison, if she's convicted.
