Police called when dog attacks owner in Florence

FLORENCE, Ky. (WKRC) -- Police help get a vicious dog captured after it turns on its owners in Florence Thursday morning, August 28th, 2014.

Officers and emergency crews responded to an apartment complex on Trellises Drive. Investigators said a man took a pit bull mix for a walk just before 5:30 a.m. He said the dog then turned on him.

The man was able to get the dog back in the apartment where the dog continued to attack him and a woman in the apartment. She locked herself in a bedroom.

Police lured the dog into the bathroom before animal control officers took it away. It is now in quarantine with the Boone County Animal Control. It will be there for 10 days. After that, the health department will release it and it will be up to the owner to take it back or give up custody.

Both the man and the woman were taken to the hospital with what police called substantial bites.
