Local 12 names afternoon news anchor for First at Four
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Long-time Sports Director, Brad Johansen, moves into the anchor slot for Local 12's First At Four afternoon newscast beginning Monday, September 8th, 2014.
Johansen has been a part of Local 12's news team since 1992 when he first joined the station as a news reporter. Named Sports Director in 1996, Brad has excelled in the sports broadcasting arena. In addition to his role as Sports Director at the station, Brad's career experience includes play-by-play announcing assignments for: CBS Sports, CBSSN (CBS Sports Network), the Cincinnati Bengals, Xavier Basketball, Miami University, as well as the University of Cincinnati.
Local 12 News Director, Kirk Varner, says, "Brad has always been an incredible storyteller. He's able to handle complex situations easily and his work as sports director here has only helped to enhance those abilities. We're excited about his move to anchoring Local 12's First At Four."
Brad notes that his motivation to make this move is clear, "I'm excited about this new challenge and the opportunities it will present. I'm thankful to the management at Sinclair Broadcasting and Local 12 for the confidence and trust they've placed in me to take on a greater role in continuing to make our news product the best in Cincinnati."
Johansen has won more than 50 journalism awards throughout his career, including 16 Emmys. Before coming to Cincinnati, Brad's career included stints in: Peoria, Illinois; Lansing, Michigan; San Luis Obispo, California and Las Vegas, Nevada. He is a graduate of Bradley University with a double major in Speech Communications and Broadcast Journalism.
Brad resides in Cincinnati with his wife Colleen and is the father of three sons and a daughter.
