Attempted carjacking done with fake gun in Anderson Kroger parking lot
ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Brad Underwood) -- A Newtown couple has been married for more than 50 years and they've faced their challenges.
Sunday, August 17th, 2014, they may have faced they're scariest. But the husband showed that nothing can come between them, not even a gun to his wife's head.
Millie Moore said she was not prepared for what happened after she and her husband got ready to leave the grocery store.
"Put the gun right on me and said, 'Do you know me?' And I said, 'No.'"
But now she does. Police said 60-year-old Edward Collier was the one who pulled a gun on Moore and tried to steal the car. Collier is facing abduction and robbery charges.
The Moores have been married for more than 50 years. They have great grandchildren.
When Tom saw his wife in trouble, he knew exactly what to do, "As soon as he left here going for the handle, I unbuckled and opened the door, the other door, and met him inside, grabbing at him, pushing him. I didn't want him to take a position in the back seat."
After pushing Collier out of the car, a good Samaritan in the parking lot help scare Collier off. When police arrested Collier they were able to determine that the gun he used was fake and modified to look real.
The Moore's said this whole ordeal while shocking and stressful will not deter them from shopping at the Kroger on in Anderson Township.
Collier's bond is set at $15,000.
