Grand Jury called in for John Crawford death

COLUMBUS (WKRC) -- A special grand jury will try to figure out whether Dayton-area police committed a crime when they killed a Fairfield man inside a Wal-Mart.

That's the word from Ohio Attorney General Mike Dewine.
John Crawford was shot and killed by police earlier this month.

They claim he was waving a pellet gun inside the store and refused to put it down.
Dewine says his team is reviewing footage from more than 200 cameras inside the store.

"This will be, I promise, a thorough and comprehensive presentation of all the evidence that we have obtained," Dewine said.

Dewine showed some of that video to Crawford's family Tuesday.

"What we saw was an unjustified killing of John Crawford.Call it murder, call it manslaughter, call it whenever you want. It was an unjustified killing of this young man."

The victim's father, John Crawford Jr., said, "Unbelievable I pray that no one ever has to go through what we are going through unconscionable I saw my son getting murdered by law-enforcement."

The special grand jury will meet in two weeks.
