Belterra Park racing purses to be cut by 20 percent
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Belterra Park said it will cut prize money for its horse races.
The track plans to slash overnight purses. That is the money the track kicks in by 20 percent starting Saturday, August 30th, 2014. According to "The Blood Horse Magazine" the track hasn't generated as much cash flow as other Ohio tracks with video slots. But the track said a variety of factors led to the decision.
Even with the purse cuts, the prize money is still higher than in 2012, the last season River Downs ran a live race meet.
