Kirkendall found not guilty of home invasion killing

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A local man is found not guilty in the shooting death of a scholarship athlete from Mount Healthy.

Judge Melba Marsh presided over the trial of Damon Kirkendall and found him not guilty on charges of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and kidnapping.

Vince Turnage was shot during a home invasion at his mother's house in Springfield Township in November of 2013.

The 19-year-old was home from the University of Akron, where he was on a track scholarship. Turnage was trying to help his girlfriend get out of the house when he was shot in the back.
