Former teacher appears in court on sexual battery charges

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A former Scarlett Oaks teacher is locked up on a $100,000 bond, on charges he had sexual relationships with three students.

Dan Knecht used to be a culinary instructor at the Sharonville school. He was arraigned Thursday on six counts of sexual battery.

The investigation began in January when a student told school authorities that another student was having a sexual relationship with Knecht. That led to the discovery of all three alleged sexual relationships. The prosecutor's office said the incidents took place at the school and at private homes.

Scarlett Oaks did not renew Knecht's contract after the end of the school year. If he posts bond, Knecht must wear an electronic monitoring device.

20-year-old Carly Skwir was charged with obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence in connection with Knecht's case. The prosecutor's office said she was a former student of Knecht's.
