No progress in Butler Co. strike day 1

BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) -- Day one of the strike by social workers in Butler County came and went, with no deal reached.

About 125 Butler County Children Services workers walked off the job demanding fair wages.

The county offered lump sum and performance raises, but, the union wants yearly percentage raises.

Amanda Nolasco, a foster parent, is worried about the care of the children. "Temporary people don't know my foster daughter. They don't know her parents. They don't know the hard work her parents have done. And her reunification could be affected."

The county says it is meeting the needs of the children.

New workers were trained Monday, August 18, 2014, and they are being joined by supervisors in handling caseloads.
