Police chase of Uhaul truck ends in crash

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. (Jeff Hirsh) -- Officers chased a Uhaul pickup truck through two states and the chase ended in a crash.

The chase began when officers got a report of someone stealing scrap metal on US-50 near Tanner's Creek Monday afternoon, August 25th, 2014.  But the chase did not end when the driver crashed the truck.
Police in Lawrenceburg tried to stop the Uhaul, it slowed down but kept going.  The Uhaul increased speed and led police on a chase into Ohio.  The chase ended on Congress Green, a dead end street.

Two men were in the truck when it came to the dead end street.  One man bailed out of the truck and headed into the woods.  The other man stayed in the truck and was taken into police custody.  Investigators believe it was the stuff inside the truck that was stolen, not necessarily the Uhaul truck itself.

Police searched for the driver of the Uhaul Monday afternoon in the area.  As of Monday evening he was still on the run.
