Sheriff identifies boy who drowned in Great Miami River

TRENTON (WKRC) -- Search crews recovered the body of a teenager who was swept away on the Great Miami River. The Butler County Sheriff's Office has identified him as 13-year-old Caleb Spivey.

Spivey fell into the river in Trenton, behind the Waste Water Treatment plant on Old Oxford State Road Monday night  around 6:30. He and a friend were fishing when Caleb went into the water and got caught in the current. He went under and never resurfaced.

The Butler County Sheriff's water rescue team used sonar to find his body at about 10:30 p.m.

One deputy says people have to remember, fun can turn into a tragedy in the blink of an eye.

Captain Mike Craft said, "This is not a playground. This is not a pool of water that you play in. It's so misleading and deceiving. One minute it's at your knees, the next minute you're gone."
