Buy a duck, feed a child and maybe win a car
CINCINNATI (Bob Herzog) -- The Rubber Duck Regatta will be here before you know it. People familiar with the traditional Labor Day weekend fundraiser for the Freestore Foodbank, know one lucky person's duck will win them a new car.
This year's big prize is a Honda Accord Sport. Founder Bob Edwards says the Rubber Duck Regatta is important because it feeds local children. That's what the slogan is all about, Buy a Duck, Feed a child.
Edwards says there are 100-thousand children in the 20 counties helped by the Freestore Foodbank, who are food insecure. That means they don't always know where they'll get their next meal.
It's five dollars for one duck. Twenty-five dollars gets you six. Edwards say they swim better as a family. That twenty-five dollars can buy enough food to nearly fill the trunk of the Accord Sport.
