Man who raped, beat and set woman on fire denied parole

SILVERTON, Ohio (WKRC) -- A convicted killer will not get out of prison Monday, August 11, 2014.

That was thanks in part to the Local 12 viewers.  Members of the Ohio Parole Board denied parole to Larry Tatum Monday, August 11.  He raped a teenage girl in Silverton more than 30 years ago.

Tatum beat her with a concrete block, tossed her in a dumpster and set her on fire.  Local 12 News talked to the victim HERE.  She pleaded for help.

More than 2,300 people wrote letters to the board after Local 12 aired the victim's story.  And thanks in part to those messages Tatum will remain in prison for at least another 10 years.
