Large crowds expected in OTR for LumenoCity
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- The stage is set, and Washington Park is ready to go for LumenoCity 2014.
They had the rehearsal Thursday night, working out all the kinks for the show that last year was one of the biggest highlights of the summer here in Cincinnati.
It really came as a surprise to a lot of folks. I don't think anyone expected the show to be as popular as it was, but tens of thousands of people showed up for the free laser light show projected on the front facade of Music Hall, set to the music of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra.
We all remember the debacle with the distribution of the free tickets for this years show. They ran out in about 10 minutes time. Now fortunately more tickets were released. But that just goes to show you the popularity of this thing.
Jean Francoise from Taste of Belgium, said last year everyone was caught off guard. This year the businesses down here in Over-the-Rhine are ready.
Francoise said, "Last year it took everybody by surprise. Nobody knew how many people would show up and especially on Sunday, most of the restaurants were closed. We had a small booth there but it was so crammed people couldn't even get to our booth. This year they expanded, they're creating LumenoCity village, they'll be a lot of activities outside of just the LumenoCity show itself."
If you don't have a ticket, that doesn't mean you won't be able to come down here and see the show.
Last year a lot of folks milling around the outskirts of the park watched the show.
