TRENTON, Ohio (Angela Ingram) -- A frantic search is underway for a 13-year-old boy lost in the Great Miami River.

Teams from Butler County were searching Monday evening for the boy since 7:30p.m.  It all started with two young people were swimming in the Great Miami River.  Officials said the 13-year-old was with another 17-year-old boy when he went missing.  The 17-year-old went for help and crews have searched since then.

A spokesperson for the Sheriff's office told Local 12 News he believed the young person got caught in an undertow and was sucked down into the river.  Crews spent their time out along the banks of the river searching for the 13-year-old.

Capt. Mike Craft of the Butler County Sheriff's Office said, "It's so sad because we continuously preach and preach and tell these kids that this is not a playground.  This is not a pool of water that you play in, you know, it's so so misleading and deceiving, this body of water is.  You know, one minute it's at your knees and the next minute you're gone."

At this point officials have not released the young person's name.
