Man suspected of stealing $13,000 worth of cigarettes arrested

DELHI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- Police arrest a robbery suspect four months after the crime, thanks to some DNA left at the scene.

Two men broke into Duebbers Carryout on April 11. They smashed a rock through the front door. The thieves brought their own garbage cans which they used to load up $13,000 worth of cigarettes. The thieves dumped the cigarettes in their car and left the garbage cans behind.

Police suspected Greg Kalejs was one of the thieves, but he denied it. Investigators got DNA from the garbage cans. The tests recently came back to Kalejs. Monday, police named him as a suspect. Thursday, he was arrested.

Police haven't said if they know the name of the second suspect. Kalejs is expected in court Friday on charges of theft, breaking and entering and possessing criminal tools.
