Man hurt in Indiana campground fall

CEDAR GROVE, Ind. (WKRC) --  A man was rushed to the hospital by medical helicopter, after his friends say he fell off a ledge at a campground in Franklin County, Indiana.

The man's friends tell Local 12 they were camping at Camp Cottonwood off of U.S. 52 near Cedar Grove. They say they had all been drinking and went to bed. They heard a splash and realized their friend had fallen in the water in a rocky area. "My buddy felt his tent move, and then heard the splash," says John Thompson. "He got up, walked over, looked down and saw him. He was face down. So he came over and got me up and we went down and rolled him over. His eyes were wide open, no pulse. I was like - 911, right now, tell them I'll meet them at the front."

The man suffered several visible injuries from the fall, including a large gash on the back of his head. His friends tell Local 12 the injured man is 51-year-old Mike Johnson of Covington.
