Police search for man who jumped from moving car during chase

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Larry Davis) -- A manhunt continued into Wednesday, August 20th, 2014 in the evening for a suspect who jumped out of a moving car during a short police chase.

A deputy tried to stop a car Wednesday afternoon near State Route 129 and Bypass 4 in Fairfield Township.  The search continued and the area was surrounded by police on the ground and in the air.

The search began around 2p.m.  According to the Butler County Sheriff's Department a car was stopped for a routine traffic stop.  Once the deputy approached the vehicle the driver took off in the vehicle.  As the car was traveling at a pretty high rate of speed the passenger in the car jumped out of the vehicle.

Police have been searching for the passenger since he was last seen fleeing from the car.  An orange shirt, believed to be worn by the passenger, was found around 6p.m.

Local 12 has a crew on the scene and will bring updates as they become available.
