Volunteers help low-income kids get ready for school

COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) -- It's the beginning of August, which means local children are starting to think about school again.

Backpacks and Breakfast was held Saturday morning in Goebel Park in Covington's Mainstrasse Village.

Northern Kentucky Harvest organized the event which helps kids from low-income families get ready to head back to school.

More than 900 backpacks loaded with school supplies were given away, and a free breakfast was served courtesy of Frisch's restaurants.
