Three day rally takes on heroin problem

HAMILTON, Ohio (WKRC) -- Hope Over Heroin.
A community stood together to bring awareness to a dangerous drug.  Up to 4,000 people were expected to gather this weekend in a parking lot in downtown Hamilton.  More than 30 churches as well as a group called "Heroin Control" organized the three day rally.
It culminated Sunday, August 10 with a prayer march.

Kris Thomas, a Batavia resident, said, "I've heard a lot of people say, 'My grandma will be proud, my mom will be proud,' and they said last night we need to come out to the people in need because they're too ashamed to come in and i just felt such an amazing spirit that we came out to them."

The Butler County coroner reported 46 deaths related to heroin through July.  That number was on pace to surpass last year's total of 60.
