YOU BUY A NEW WASHING MACHINE BUT IT BREAKS DOWN AFTER JUST A FEW MONTHS AND NO ONE CAN MAKE THE REPAIRS.
NOW WHAT DO YOU DO?
THAT'S THE PROBLEM A NORTHERN KENTUCKY MAN FACED - SO HE TURNED TO LOCAL 12 TROUBLESHOOTER HOWARD AIN FOR HELP.
ADAM NEVIL AND HIS WIFE BOUGHT A NEW WASHER AND DRYER FOR THEIR HOME IN FLORENCE. THEY BOUGHT THEM BACK IN FEBRUARY.
ADAM NEVIL: "It's not a high dollar but it as within our budget so decided to buy it. Well they talked us into getting the extended warranty."
SO THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE VERY PROTECTED WHEN THE WASHER STOPPED WORKING JUST THREE MONTHS LATER.
NEVIL: "It wouldn't spin, wouldn't drain, wouldn't do anything. It just sat there."
NEVIL CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, HAIER AMERICA, AND WAS TOLD A SERVICEMAN WOULD COME REPAIR IT UNDER THE COMPANY'S WARRANTY. BUT--
NEVIL: "Didn't hear nothing for two weeks so I called again to find out what's going on and theres saying you're in a no work zone. We can't find anybody to work on this."
HH GREGG WHICH SOLD HIM THE WASHER SAID ITS WARRANTY DOESN'T BEGIN UNTIL AFTER THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY EXPIRES-- SO HE CONTINUED TO COMPLAIN TO HAIER AMERICA.
HOWARD AIN: AT THE END OF MAY NEVIL RECEIVED THIS LETTER SAYING, WE'RE ABLE TO EXCHANGE THE UNIT, THEY JUST WANTED A COPY OF THE RECEIPT. HE SENT IT TO THEM BUT THAT'S THE LAST HE'S HEARD.
NEVIL: "You can see the water that's down in there. Before you can see the line where it was sitting, where the water was sitting."
NEVIL SAYS AT THIS POINT HE DOESN'T KNOW WHERE TO TURN BECAUSE HE CAN'T FIND ANYBODY WHO CAN FIX HIS WASHER.
NEVIL: "It's different if its out of warranty ok fine. I've got warranties. I've paid for them. They should fix it."
SO I CONTACTED HAIER AMERICA AND A SPOKEPERSON CHECKED AND FOUND THE COMPANY HAD DROPPED THE BALL. BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO REPAIRMEN IN THIS AREA, HE AGREED THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE WASHER-- AND HAVE NOW SENT NEVIL A NEW UNIT. HOWARD AIN LOCAL 12 TROUBLESHOOTER.
