UC Linebacker Lindsay Crook undergoes successful knee surgery

CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati linebacker Lindsay Crook (Gold Coast, Australia/Southport School) underwent successful right knee surgery Friday to repair a torn ACL.

Crook was injured in non-contact drills during the Bearcats first preseason workout.

UCs director of orthopedic services Dr. Angelo Colosimo performed the operation at UC Medical Center, the department of athletics healthcare partner.

Crook will begin a rehabilitation program in the near future. He will redshirt this season and have four years of eligibility remaining starting in the fall of 2014.

The freshman, an Olympic-level rugby player in Australia, had never played American football before coming to Cincinnati. He was a member of the Australian National Sevens Team since 2011 and gave up a chance to play for his home country in the 2016 Olympic Games.
