Zac Murphy and Dayonne Nunley Honored by MAC

OXFORD, Ohio (WKRC) -- Miami University's Zac Murphy was named Mid-American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week and Dayonne Nunley earned MAC East Defensive Player of the Week for their efforts versus Cincinnati.

Murphy won the award for the second consecutive week after averaging 52.4 yards per punt on eight attempts in a 14-0 loss versus the Bearcats. Murphys biggest punt was an 84-yard blast that set a new Miami school and Yager Stadium record and is the fourth-longest punt in Mid-American Conference history. Murphy currently leads the nation with a punting average of 49.8.

Nunley and the RedHawk defense had their best effort of the season, holding Cincinnati to just 369 yards of offense, and off the scoreboard for the first 55:05 of the contest. Nunley finished the game with 10 tackles, one interception and a career-high three pass breakups. His interception was the 13th of his career, three shy of the all-time record, held by assistant coach Ron Carpenter.

Murphy, Nunley and the entire RedHawk team will face Illinois this Saturday in Champaign, Ill.
