RedHawks Rank Third in Poll

OXFORD, Ohio (WKRC) -- After a weekend split versus No. 6 North Dakota, the Miami University hockey team dropped from No. 1 to No. 3 in the week's national poll.

Minnesota, the new No. 1 team in the country, came away with 972 points, followed by Notre Dame (928) and Miami (874). Despite the series split, Miami still received five first-place votes. Only Minnesota (31) and Notre Dame (11) received more.

This week's opponent, Providence, is eighth with 668 points. Providence is 3-0-0 on the season and was ranked 10th in last week's poll.

The poll consists of 50 voters, including 28 coaches from the Division I conferences and 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country. The poll, published weekly by the Associated Press, is a production of, which provides in-depth coverage of college hockey.
