Cyclones top the Royals, 4-1
READING, Pa. (WKRC) -- Barry Almeida posted his second straight multi-point game against his former team as the Cincinnati Cyclones (11-6-0-0) knocked off the Reading Royals (10-6-0-0) by a 4-1 final score in front of 4,199 at Santander Arena on Friday night.
Barry Almeida continued his hot start against his former team as he lit the lamp for the third time in two match-ups with Reading at 19:11. And thanks to a pair of Cincinnati penalty kills and six saves at the other end by Michael Houser (W, 33 saves, 3-3-0), the Cyclones led it 1-0 after one.
Cincinnati extended their edge to 2-0 when Logan Shaw caught a behind-the-net pass from Almeida just outside the goal crease and slid in his third lamp lighter of the season at 3:48. Then at 10:20, Trevor Lewis camped out in front of the net and batted home a rebound past Brandon Anderson (L, 19 saves, 4-3-0) to push the Cyclones cushion to 3-0 at the end of 40 minutes.
The Royals attempted to mount a comeback, peppering the Cincinnati goaltender with 19 shots and collecting a goal from Ethan Cox at 10:50. However, the Cyclones answered right back with a strike from Adam Brace at 14:37 to make it 4-1 and thwart any further rally. Houser would finish with 33 saves as the Cyclones earned the 4-1 victory.
The Cyclones will make their second stop on a three-city road trip as they visit the Elmira Jackals tomorrow night at 7:05pm. Fans can hear all the action of the game on the Cyclones Radio Network (CyclonesHockey.com/America One/Cyclones Mobile App) beginning at 6:35pm.
