Report: Yankees inquire about Phillips
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- The New York Yankees have to decide whether to sign current 2B Robinson Cano long-term to a lucrative deal.
In the mean time, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, the team has made contact with the Cincinnati Reds about trading for Brandon Phillips.
Heyman said that the price for the four-time Gold Glove 2B is "too steep" right now. Plus, Phillips still has four years and $50 million left on his current contract.
The 32-year-old hit .261 with 18 HR while knocking in a 103 RBI last season.
