NKU's Jackson named Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week

MACON, Ga. (WKRC) -- Northern Kentucky University's Jordan Jackson has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Jackson, a 6-foot-2 junior guard, scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds during Northern Kentuckys 87-71 victory over Chattanooga on Sunday. He also added three steals and three assists as the Norse cruised to the non-conference win.

Jordan played very well against Chattanooga and is very deserving of this recognition, Norse head coach Dave Bezold said. We had a number of people play well in that win, but Jordan did a great job with his passing, scoring and rebounding. He scored some big baskets during our second-half run that put us in control of the game.

Jackson averages a team-leading 13.9 points per game and is shooting 54.1 percent from the field. A native of St. Paul, Minn., Jackson also leads the Norse with 13 steals and averages 3.1 assists per game.

Northern Kentucky (2-7) continues its three-game homestand Wednesday night when Hampton (5-5) visits The Bank of Kentucky Center at 7 p.m.
