Sochi Medal Count 2-17-14
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Germany still leads the Winter Olympic Games in gold medals with seven. However, six other nations are just two behind in Sochi.
The top of the medal standings remains just as crowded with the United States and Russia on top. Each country has 18 medals-- five golds, four silvers and nine bronze for the Americans. The Americans have won at least one medal every day of these Games, a feat it has never accomplished.
All but one of the Netherlands' 17 medals have been won in speedskating. The 16 won by the Dutch in that sports has already broken the previous record of 13 set by East Germany at the 1988 Calgary Olympics. Canada and Norway have 15 medals each.
Germany remains on top with seven gold medals, but has just 12 overall.
