Cronin Named NABC District 25 Coach of the Year

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has named University of Cincinnati men's basketball head coach Mick Cronin the District 25 Coach of the Year it was announced on Thursday.

Cronin was named the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year by his peers and was tabbed a finalist for the Henry Iba National Coach of the Year by the United States Basketball Writers Association following the regular season.

Despite being picked fourth in the American and receiving only one vote in the preseason Associated Press poll, Cronin guided Cincinnati to a share of the league title, the program's first conference championship since 2004 and a Top 15 national ranking during the final nine weeks of the season. The Bearcats compiled their winningest season since 2002 at 27-7 and registered their most conference victories since the 2000 campaign at 15-3. UC advanced to the NCAA tournament for the fourth consecutive season - one of only 16 teams in the nation to accomplish the feat.

Cronin's 162 wins during his eight-year tenure at Cincinnati rank second only to Bob Huggins (399 victories during 16 seasons) for most in program history.
