Cyclones win their regular season finale over Toledo, 4-1

TOLEDO, Ohio (WKRC) -- Taylor Aronsons three-point night highlighted a 4-1 win for the Cincinnati Cyclones (41-24-4-4) over the Toledo Walleye (21-44-4-3) in front of 4,599 at Huntington Center on Sunday night.

Despite the Cyclones outshooting the Walleye 11-5 in the opening period, the teams went into the first intermission scoreless. Early in the second period, however, Cincinnati was able to finally cash in as Jonathan Hazen slammed home his team-leading 22nd goal of the season at 4:33. Toledos captain, Kyle Rogers, found the equalizer at 9:20 as he slid a puck through the legs of Magnus Hellberg (W, 21 saves, 5-1-1) to knot things at one. The Cyclones jumped back out in front minutes later, at 12:12, when rookie Joe Basaraba sniped his first pro goal past Hannu Toivonen (L, 31 saves, 12-17-1) giving the visiting team a 2-1 cushion through 40 minutes.

The Cyclones added to their lead early in the third when Barry Almeida banged in a power play goal after Zach Budish fed him a perfect pass from the corner. Then, at 12:26, Cincinnati sealed off the game win another strike when Taylor Aronson potted his sixth goal of the season from the right circle to make it a 4-1 game. The Cyclones would salt away the final minutes and win it by the same score.
